At some point, we’ve all used blow dryers, hot combs, flat irons, curling irons, hair color, keratin… I could go on but I’m sure that you get the idea. What do these things ALL have in common? They can make your hair look A-mazing, am I right? Of course I am, but the sad flip side is that they can all cause an insane amount of damage to your hair.
Last week, Tamera Mowry- Housley revealed a brand new shorter hairstyle. After the internet took a collective “gasp”… and got over it, we started hearing more about what inspired her big chop. After years of straightening her hair, to please the men she dated, she finally met a Marcel Hot Iron that didn’t like her. From the sounds of it, the iron was too hot. Whether you know it or not, hair does burn, but at what temperature? Healthy hair burns at 451° if your hair is not at its prime, it can burn at lower temperatures. What happens when your hair burns? Well depending on the state of your hair, it could lose its natural curl pattern worst case scenario it could just snap right off, on the spot. Heat damage is no joke!
How do you avoid this type of damage?
1.) BUY QUALITY STYLING TOOLS!
2.) Do not start working on the highest heat setting. I know it can be tempting, especially if you have thick hair. Work on a lowersetting. It may take longer for your hair to be straightened or curled, but imagine how much longer it will take for you to grow healthy hair back once you’ve burned it. This applies to your Daring Virgin Hair as well.
3.) Don’t apply heat every day! I know it is tempting to touch up the hair you left out of your partial sew in, but you wants your hair to be in great condition between sew-ins.
4.) Apply an alcohol free heat protectant.
5.) Speak up when you think your stylist might be using too much heat on your hair!
Heat-damage is not the only type of damage that can completely ruin your hair. Over processing from coloring and other chemical treatments can also do a number on your hair. Just after Tamera Mowry-Housley spoke about the reasons behind her big chop we heard from Arianna Grande. She came out with a song, this summer, that seemed to play on every single radio station, simultaneously, but before that she was best know for playing Cat on Nickelodeon’s hit show “Victorious.” Cat was the Tori Vega’s quirky sidekick, with the odd voice and the reddest red hair on TV. Well, that red hair came at a cost. Grande reported that during the first four tears of filming “Victorious” she would have her hair bleached and dyed red every other week. When people continued to throw shade her way because kept rocking the same exact hairstyle, she finally admitted her hair was damaged beyond the point of repair. So much so that she wears it in a ponytail and with extensions to avoid looking “ratchet” (her words not mine).
Sounds brutal right? Well, you don’t have to go through those extremes to damage your hair with the bleach. There are a combination of things that could occur with any type of hair chemicals that could leave your natural hair and your Daring Virgin Hair completely and irreparably fried.
1.) Always seek the service of a PROFESSIONAL when attempting to color or otherwise chemically alter your hair!
2.) Never apply chemicals over hair that has already been treated. Work only with your new growth, there is no reason to process hair that has already been processed.
3.) NEVER apply two chemical treatments in the same sitting! Give your hair a two-week breather!
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that your hair (Daring Virgin Hair included) is strong enough to stand up to this type of mistreatment.
On a positive note, a little TLC (Tender Love and Care) will go a long way. I was one of those girls who though that deep conditioners were a just a way to jack up the cost of my hair appointment. After sticking to a Bi- Weekly deep conditioning schedule I noticed what a huge difference it made! I started doing the same to my daughter’s hair, minus sitting under the bonnet hair dryer and noticed that her hair also became stronger, softer, and shinier. Finding a great deep conditioner for your hair can make all the difference. There are a few that stand out, Silicon Mix Deep Treatment, Emergencia Deep Intensive Hair Treatment, and my hair stylists top secret deep conditioner (infused with peppermint oil)- please don’t ask what she puts into it because I don’t know. I just love it!

Based on album sales... I'm sure that I am not the only one who has been LOVING Beyonce's self-titled surprise album. The visual album is an amazing extra but one video I kept going back to was "Yonce." Sure, sure, sure- it's a catchy track, but did you see her hair?!
I played with the idea of bleaching my hair, after my 7-year old shut me down, I knew I was just going to have to settle for figuring out how to get the look without cutting or damaging my own hair. For the look I'm going for, I would need three bundles of Peruvian Natural Wave, color 4 Off Brown, in 10", 12" and 12" one of the reasons why this look POPs is because of the volume. Color 4, Off Brown will lift very easily to the blonde ombre (the same ombre color that my daughter said I shouldn't get). But one thing I realized is we still have to live after our children. We have to embrace our beauty without being held in the "Mommy Zone!" It's important to embrace yourself and DARE to be a Diva. (Not for men or women, nor chick or child But for YOU!)
If you're not interested in a Yonce Bob, but still want a similar look you can always go longer and STILL get the waves with the Peruvian Natural Wave of course, you could also create a toned down version of this look (With our Straight VIrgin Hair types) by following the same steps:
- Wash/ Co-wash and Condition Your Hair (Using Your Silicon Mix Products)
- Use an Old T-Shirt (Yes, a T-Shirt) to Absorb the Excess Moisture from Hair
- Apply a bit of Moroccan Oil
- Dry your Hair, Air Dry or Dry with the Diffuser Attachment for your Hair Dryer
- Once your Hair is Completely Dry, Using a Curling Rod, Wrap Your Hair around the Curling Rod for No Longer than Five Seconds (Any Longer and You'll Have Ringlets)
- Flip your Head Upside Down and Tousle Your Hair Lightly
You can do this on hair of any length to get fun, fresh, and sexy waves that will have your name all over everyone's mouth like liquor. Or not... but you'll look and feel amazing..

This is the Instagram Post that started it all...
"What is a U-part wig?"
"What does it do?"
"Why would anyone want to have one?"
The questions kept rolling in...
A u-part wig is simply a modified half wig, created with the shape of a "U" cut out on the top of the wig. The "U" in U-part wigs exist so small amounts of wig wearer's natural hair can be used to cover the tracks and the cap.
U-part wigs can be sewn or glued onto a cap (we always suggest sewing), then clipped onto the head through the use of hair clips, hair combs, or sewn on.
Many people love U-part wigs because they are very versatile and can be created to fit the needs of the wearer. Another great feature... It requires that very little hair be left out, so it serves as a great styling option for these cold months ahead.
I'm not sure where you are, but winter can get pretty real in the north east, these elements can create hair nightmares... So adding protective cornrows and using a U-part wig can be a great way to maintain your hard earned length while still looking fabulous.

Name: Kia (kiathastylist)
How long have you been styling hair? I have been professionally doing hair for 4yrs an I love my career!
What is your FAVORITE type of Daring Virgin Hair? I met De' Shaun through Instagram when I purchased the Mongolian wavy, I noticed she had great customer service an even greater quality hair. I had my Mongolian wavy hair for almost a year. I then purchased Peruvian Natural Wave and I've had it now for two months installed and I reused the hair 4 times (that's 8 months total I've been in love with the Peruvian Virgin Hair) and each installment the virgin hair bounced right back!! Currently Peruvian Natural Wave is my FAVORITE.
How should Dolls go about maintaining their Daring Virgin Hair? Whenever a client ask me about hair I send them to Dare To Have Hair! I can vouch for it personally! I recommend that my clients come for a follow up shampoo an condition 3-4 weeks after an install. If they can't make in in, I suggest they use the Moroccan coconut shampoo and conditioner. I don't recommend that you use a lot of product in the virgin hair, why?! Because the hair pretty much keeps it's natural shine and luster, however when you remove the hair do deep condition it for about 30 to 45 minutes.
I can honestly say if you take care of the virgin hair it will last! I love my Dare To Have Hair and it hasn't failed me or my clients yet! We DARE, and so should you! Come get Dared out in my chair! Contact info: 302-367-3745 Instagram @ styleskia

Taking orders, arranging in person deliveries, packaging, hosting events, and personally speaking to customers are just a few things that the CEO of Dare To Have Hair, De'Shaun Chancy, does to make sure her customers are getting exceptional services to match the company's exceptional products. De'Shaun took time out of her jam packed schedule to answer a few questions about herself and Dare To Have Hair so we can get to know the master mind and motivation behind a brand that has grown exponentially over the past year.
What inspired you to create Dare To Have Hair? I wanted to empower women by making them feel beautiful, while also providing a long-lasting product with superior quality. Prior to starting my business, I would buy hair and after 5 weeks it was no good, it would look like a haystack! To add insult to injury, I knew I would never see my hard earned money again! There was nothing that irritated me more than having that happen. I'm sure I wasn't the only woman experiencing this issue. What better way to get rid of a problem than to fix it?! I decided I would work to find hair of the finest quality and make it accessible to other women.
What are your future aspirations for Dare To Have Hair? I want Dare To Have Hair to not just be a local household name but a brand that's recognized and used worldwide. I want to service generations to come. I want to to continue to find the newest and best hair around, but most importantly, I want to continue to build strong trusting relationships with my clients. No one likes to feel like they're just a number. I want to know what you need at each stage of your Dare To Have Hair purchase, before hand we want to know what you are looking for whether it's a specific look or for a certain event. When you have your hair, we want to see what you're doing with it. Customers have sent photos of current styles or styles that they want to create with their Daring Hair. Lastly, we've had customers come back before experiencing any issues with their existing purchase to make another one. They see a type of hair on another Doll that they love and they'll say they want that hair, too. We love to take care of our clients, we love hair! When you have a true passion for something it shows. My staff and I are all about building relationships with our clients because of that, Dare To Have Hair's mission to provide great customer services doesn't end once your order is received! A transaction is over within a couple of minutes. A relationship doesn't have an expiration date or end time. If you need us, we're here. I think that gives us that long lasting potential.
What is a Pop-Up Shop and when/where will the next one be? A Pop Up Shop is when we set up a shop at an event or business and customers are able to purchase items then and there! The next will be in Arizona or New York!
What is a VIDD? A "Very Important Daring Diva"! Be a VIDD and stay connected by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and request to be added to the list!
What's a motto you live by that daring dolls can be also be motivated by? "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." Used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech. It kills me to see talent or intelligence go unfulfilled. People waste so much time being afraid to take that big leap that they never get around to living out their destinies. We are not in control of when God wants us to leave this Earth, but we are incomplete control of what we leave when we do go. Everyone is great at something, but you have to believe in it and work for it before the world can see you shine. If you're looking in the mirror, sitting behind a desk, or driving home telling yourself that you are not good enough to make your dreams come true- how will you ever be brave enough to chase after those dreams? If my Daring Hair boosts your confidence, just enough to make you ask for that promotion you know that you deserve or if it makes you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world on your wedding day... I know I did my job!

What type of things do you think you should splurge on? A great car, a classy pair shoes, the house your children will grow up in... These are usually the first things that come to mind. However, it's a known fact that we get what we pay for, and skimping on "big ticket" items can backfire. Your $2,000 used car breaks down every month and you end up paying more money to repair it.
When you invest in something you are investing not only money but time and energy. Usually the benefits are long lasting when you put your money into a good investment. What does all of that have to do with hair, you ask? Buying quality virgin hair such as Dare To Have Hair is in fact, an investment.
Once you have purchased your DARING Bundles you have now invested in Virgin Hair that can last for months and over time; which will actually save you money. How long does that $20-$60 pack of hair last? Sadly we've been there, but within a few weeks it has to be replaced! Repeating this spending method you could be potentially spending way more than the cost of TWO bundles OF QUALITY Virgin Hair. You could argue that perhaps you don't replace your cheaper hair that often, however, you would not be able to argue that the quality of that hair isn't compromised over time.
When investing in Dare To Hair you are purchasing not just quality but long lasting quality. If taken care of properly Dare To Have Hair will last for months and months and even years! We have customers who have gone a year and more with the same hair and it still maintains its quality and luster!
Like any investment, you do have to keep up with the maintenance to make sure you're getting the most of your purchase. We can assist you with that too! So the next time your scrolling through shopping for your next DARING look, consider how gorgeous you're going to look rocking your new "investment".

Hello. My name is Samara and I'm a stylist from Delaware. I specialize in color. I have been wearing my Dare To Have Hair for about 8 months.
I have been going back & forth between Brazilian curly and Mongolian Wavy. I must say I love them both! What I really love is that I have colored both textures multiple times and the textures wave/curl pattern remained the SAME!!! I specialize in color and I'm a DARING GIRL, so this means a lot to me.
My textures have not only remained the same, but the hair it self doesn't shed or tangle. Also the hair adapts to heat very well. If I flat iron my hair, the curls are bouncy and it has a natural luster! Another great thing is If I have a lazy weekend and a bad hair day, I love the fact that I can wash it and my hair will bounce back. I can just go natural, basically Wash and Go!
What I have learned and experienced, is that Good Hair isn't cheap AND Cheap Hair isn't always good. I very shocked that there prices are reasonable! I love my #Daretohavehair, it's Addictive LOL! So Do you Dare?!
I use Organix Coconut Milk products on my Dare To Have Hair... Shampoo Conditioner Anti-Breakage Serum Instant Repair Treatment Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist Split End Mender Leave-In Nourishing Milk Also, Avoid constantly putting heat in your hair. Let your hair air dry or if you use a blow dryer do not use direct heat kinda blow it dry. Keep your hair moisturized. Treat this as if it's yours. Deep conditioner treatments help. If you get it colored make sure it's by someone who uses products that do not dry the hair out. But if you're looking to have your Daring Virgin hair colore Don't hesitate to contact me! Ok, you're going to take the plunge and make your first Dare To Have Hair purchase. Where do you start? How will you get this AMAZING Daring Hair installed?!?! Well like always we got your back! There are so many choices and a million different ways to install your Daring Virgin Hair. We are not the type of ladies to leave a potential Daring Diva hanging, so let's go over some of your options:
BONDING METHOD is the one of the most common ways of installing your Daring Hair. The client's own hair is braided and virgin hair is glued on top of it or the weft of Daring virgin hair is glued in between the hair on the scalp. This method usually doesn't last as long since the glue can eventually lose its stickiness from oils in the scalp and sweat.
Pros Inexpensive Quick Installation
Cons Installation don't last long If hair is not taken out properly, glue can cause breakage. A lot of people are Allergic to the glue, and don't know until extensions are installed.
SEW-IN METHOD Client's natural hair is braided and the weft of the weave is sewn into the braids with a needle and special (thick) thread. This method is great when more versatile styling is desired. An alternative to sewing hair directly into braids is to use a specialized net to go over the braids allowing the stylist of sew the wefts into the net.
Pros No adhesives needed Significantly Less Breakage Styling Versatility More natural look Longer installation time Can cause a lot of growth to your natural hair
Cons With a net, it's harder to get to the scalp to moisturize Longer removal time If not removed correctly can cause damage to your natural hair
CLIP METHOD With this method hair is held in place with clips. This is a great method when you want to blend your own hair with the extensions and give more fullness to your hair. This is also an easy method, for women who prefer to do their own hair.
Pros You can install them yourself Very easy to put in/take out
Cons Not as secure as other methods if they aren't installed properly
TAPING METHOD An adhesive strip is attached to the weft and is then taped to the hair (similar to glue). This method allows quick and easy installation and removal.
Pros Great for those ladies who can't get to a salon and prefer a DIY (do it yourself) method
Cons If hair does not match the texture of the weave achieving a natural looking, well blended method will be virtually impossible.
INFUSION METHOD The weave is attached individually to small sections of your hair. The pieces of weave that are used for infusion is "pre tipped" and wax based protein adhesive is used to attach the hair. This hair can be installed in relaxed or natural hair, but last longer when hair has not been recently relaxed.
Pros Very natural look Offers more styling versatility
Cons Can cause breakage to your hair if it is not installed correctly or removed properly Installation and removal is very costly.
CLOSURES!! Dare To Have Hair does offer closures as well. A closure is a round/square shaped piece of lace with hair attached and can be put on the top or side of the head. It is sewn or glued to the crown of client's braided hair and gives the illusion that the hair is growing from your own scalp.
Pros Dolls can rock a naturally looking part on the side or front
Cons Not everyone knows how to properly install a closure (as a lot of beauty schools don't teach how to). Be sure to request sample photos from your styling to see what they've done in the past! This list does not include every method but some of the more commonly used. We recommend researching to find what works best for you! As always, we're always here to help if you have more questions!
xoxo Team Dare

Hey there! My name is Demi and I am a stylist from Hairtrendz Salon located in New Castle, Delaware. I absolutely LOVE Dare To Have Hair! The quality and texture of the hair is superb, clients of mine who have purchased Dare To Have Hair agree. There is nothing better than having a client leave my chair feeling like the Daring Diva she could be, and me and Dare To Have Hair make it happen every time!
Now, at the age of 21, I have been styling hair for six years. I pride myself on knowing what I want and what I like, but more than anything I am great at what I do! I really love ALL the Virgin Hair Dare To Have Hair sells, but I must say my hands down favorite is the Mongolian Wavy!!! It is absolutely amazing! I love the thickness, how it curls, presses straight, but yet waves up again after being wet or washed. Many of my clients have tried Mongolian Wavy and fell in love with this hair, as well. I'm always happy to help my Daring Dolls learn how to maintain the beauty of their Daring Hair.
One piece of advice that I insist my clients follow? DO NOT put any type of product in your hair after you leave my chair! I also ask that they wrap it daily and cover it with a soft silk scarf to keep the luscious texture of the hair. Before leaving my shop I make it a point to thank my Daring Divas for coming, they always love their hair (of course) and I tell them to refer a friend because referrals earn them $10.00 off of their next salon service! I also want to add that not only do my clients Rock #DareToHaveHair but I ROCK it too... I am also a Happy customer! #TeamDARE
